Commemorating 150 Years of the Irish Contribution to the State of Montana

In September 2023, The Boston Beara Society and a number of community groups from the Beara peninsula, in West Cork and Kerry, organized a highly successful event in Boston to Commemorate 300 Years of Irish contribution to the State of Massachusetts.

This year, the Boston Beara Society is again collaborating with those groups, to Commemorate 150 Years of the Irish Contribution to the State of Montana.

A delegation of more than fifty people from the Beara peninsula will visit the City of Butte from 16th to 26th of May. They will be accompanied by representatives from Cork, Waterford and Cavan County Councils.

Events will be hosted at the State House in Helena and the City Hall in Butte, where three musicians accompanying the delegation from Beara – sisters Natalie and Giselle O’Mara, who sing and play a range of musical instruments, and Emily O’Sullivan, who plays the harp – will perform.

The visitors will also enjoy a full schedule of social events during their stay in Butte.

Anyone living around the country, and particularly those with a connection to Beara, are very welcome to join us for the trip.
